With over half a century of career, it’s as if Johnny Osbourne has lived multiple lives: a privileged witness to the evolution of Jamaican music, he experienced the birth of reggae, dancehall, and then digital. Marked by numerous hits, including the classic “Truth and Right,” his career began in the 1960s and has continually evolved.

After debuting in 1967 with the Jamaican group The Wildcats and recording early tracks with Coxsone Dodd, he moved to Canada, experimenting with various bands. He made a sensational return to Jamaica in the 1980s, working notably with Studio One, which gave rise to the legendary album Truth and Rights and its iconic title track. Later, he recorded the successful album Folly Ranking with King Jammy.

Though more discreet from the 1990s onward, he made an unforgettable return to the stage in 2012 with a festival tour, once again showcasing his legendary stage presence. At the same time, he remained relevant, collaborating with prominent artists of the era, such as Chinese Man on the track “Independent Music” and Major Lazer on “Jah No Partial.

In 2023, Johnny Osbourne marked his grand return with a new album! Produced by Baco Records and in close collaboration with musician Stepper, this project has won over reggae aficionados.

Tomawok has a long artistic history. First a member of the ska-fusion band Zetlaskars, signed in 2003 to the label Crash Disques, then the hardcore rap group Urban Poizon in 2004, and finally, he joined the Parisian group Grime Sin (grime/drum’n’bass) in 2007 alongside Mesh M18 and Titine Boy. In parallel, the project TOMAWOK had been brewing in his mind for a while, and in 2007, he decided to fully dedicate himself to it.

As a songwriter, composer, and performer, Tomawok adapts to all types of riddims ranging from 70 to 180 BPM. His carefully crafted lyrics, rich rhymes, articulated words, and conscious messages, combined with his unmatched and precise delivery, make him an unmissable artist. The stage is his outlet, like a lion unleashed in an arena, electrified and energized by the symbiotic connection with his audience. Tomawok has also performed over 1300 concerts, both with the One Shot Band and in DJ sets, across the globe: France, China, Jamaica, Mali, Ivory Coast, Congo, India, Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, Mexico, Georgia, Germany, Réunion Island.

After dedicating himself in 2020 to creating and recording a new 12-track album, Road to Wisdom, set to be released in May 2022, Tomawok will surprise with a more conscious, sensitive, mature, and intimate approach, while still keeping the crowds dancing. The album’s themes have expanded, with the artist addressing topics such as climate change, animal rights, the joy of cooking, and his views on society, occasionally with a touch of humor.

Tomawok has chosen to collaborate, as always, with legends of Jamaican music, such as Capleton on the track Bun Dem Down and Chezidek on Me Kitchen, alongside icons of the French and Réunionnais scenes like Mesh and Mc Duc. With the same commitment to excellence and quality, the beat/riddim makers are French duo D&H and Polish producer Dreadsquad. The album was mainly recorded at Irie Ites Studio by Judi-k, with features recorded in Kingston at Capleton’s studio and in St. Mary with Chezidek. The album was mixed by D&H and then mastered by Scratch in Trinidad and Tobago.

Steel Alive was born in 2014 in Lyon and has since moved between mainland France and Reunion Island. The duo is formed by Pouss, on composition, accordion and keyboard; and Lucas, who alternates between scratch, guitar and drumpad.

Their sound universe is built around a dub foundation enriched with hip-hop rhythms, world music elements, and scratches, creating an explosive blend of reggae and stepper with an organic touch, accompanied by their signature instrument: the accordion. Between their homage to sound system culture and their nods to circus arts, they have collaborated with numerous and diverse artists (Panda Dub, Uzul, Luiza, Joe Pilgrim, Balaphonik Sound System, etc.).

They have hundreds of concerts behind them, notably in France, Réunion and Switzerland, and have released two CDs, Spread the Word (2014) and Timing is Critical (2017), in addition to the album Connecting…Please Wait available everywhere (Casamance, 2022). In 2024 they set up their own label, Bass Cookers, under which they release their productions, recorded and mixed by one of the pioneers of French Dub: Pilah (Dub Addict Sound System/KalyLive Dub). They also celebrate their tenth anniversary by organizing two editions of the “Alive DubFestival”, in France in October and in La Réunion in November.

Dawa Hifi is a unique studio and sound system born in Bourges (France) in 2005. Its music primarily draws inspiration from reggae and dub from the 70s to the present, as well as other militant and meditative styles such as jazz, hip-hop, world music, and more electronic genres.

Originally formed by Val and Ben, respectively a selector/composer and MC, the Dawa Hifi collective expanded with the arrival of Pépère (2013) and Greg (2018) to develop coordination and technical expertise. Their musical selections range from productions from their studio, both recent and older releases, to exclusive tracks collected over the years.

Val has worked on several albums and singles, with the first ones being released in 2006. His productions can be found on various labels such as Blackboard Jungle, Chouette Records, Welders Records, Digipirates, ODG Prod, and Dawa Outernational in self-production.

In 2021, he collaborated with singer Davojah to produce “Better Days,” an EP with broader influences. A new album of mostly dub compositions, Dreams, was released in April 2024.

The current sound system of Dawa Hifi is entirely handmade. The boxes, designed by Greg and crafted by Ben, deliver a true audio massage from head to toe. Installed at various events in France and abroad, they stand out for their clear sound and great stereo image. Over the years, Dawa Hifi has hosted numerous renowned artists and proven itself to be a reliable and powerful sound system.

They organize (in collaboration with the association Le Gros Bazar) the “Outerdub” events in their hometown of Bourges (at Nadir), a laboratory for experimentation and testing new tracks and original lineups. Their musical journey continues, and in 2025, they will celebrate twenty years of activism, always with love and passion.

Gold record, multiple awards at the Victoires du Reggae, over 1 million listeners on Spotify in 2023, and more than 7 million views on YouTube…

The list is long, and the journey is remarkable for the pioneer of the vapor reggae/dub movement, initiated nearly 10 years ago by Atili with his track “Tomorrow (feat. Prendy).” In 2016, Atili laid the foundation for a new musical genre that is now recognized and embraced by his peers.

A self-made man, Atili honed his craft on his own to reveal his full potential. From sounds to music videos and visuals, he is the driving force behind everything related to his music, both in inspiration and execution.

A chameleon musician, equally at ease supporting his reggae/rap peers as he is front and center in an electro/dub setting, Atili spreads his wings and takes flight through tracks marked with his unique signature: a festive electro vibe tinged with dub sounds, reflecting his journey while already revealing his future.

Abso, an artist from the West of France, is known for his sharp flow, unique voice, and crossover style blending reggae, dub, hip hop, and vapor.

In 2020, under the name Absollem, he won the “Playground Contest” organized by Fatbabs, the beatmaker of Naâman, which opened doors to major venues and festivals, including the Olympia, No Logo BZH, Sun Ska, and Delta Festival.

In 2023, his career took on a European dimension, with over thirty dates across Italy, Belgium, and Switzerland.

In 2024, he focused on creating his first album, “Noisy Bag,” which he self-produces. The album features eight tracks, seven in English and one in French, blending various musical styles from urban culture. He collaborated with talented beatmakers from different styles and universes, allowing him to explore diverse sounds and translate the many ideas and emotions that swirl in his creative mind into music.

He collaborated with talented beatmakers from different styles and universes, allowing him to explore diverse sounds and translate the many ideas and emotions that swirl in his creative mind into music.

The recordings took place at Judi-K’s (Old Capital Studio), who also mixed five of the eight tracks produced by Matka, Bearsound, and Ika Dub. The mixes for the other three tracks were entrusted to Nin’s (Ohm Sound) on his own productions. The mastering was handled by Fédé (Krak in Dub).

These collaborations resulted in striking contrasts of originality, where attitudes, styles, and techniques collide, making for an album that aims to be both complete and precisely vague. “Noisy Bag” is an accomplishment for Abso in his perpetual quest for creativity.
